SMARTTABLE UI Design
A pre-ordering mobile application - Naamtech
I was given various roles within the SmartTable Product and this particular section reviews the digital design elements that I designed.
Some elements that were required are the UI for specific flows and the icon design based on existing SmartTable Branding.
Collecting the pieces
SmartTable was one of the first products UI and UX that I was exposed to at Naamtech. It was handed through many different designers in its lifespan. I was given multiple files to look at and work with and asked to fill and create elements for different features. It was an interesting product to start off my experience in app design. I was lucky to be working with some great designers on the project that helped me understand the product and the files that I would be working with.
My first task was to work on making the files easier to work with for all designers - creating a symbol library and ensuring elements were linked, colours were the same, typefaces were correct - this meant compiling all the files to ensure they aligned with the brand and the UX designers vision. It was definitely a good way for me to learn how the files should work and how to simplify our methods. - not neccessarily specific to our team but for the general organisation of libraries.
I was to make sure all screens and assets were sitting pixel perfect and that there was a general hierarchy of elements on the screens. If there were icons missing, or not aligned with the existing brand, I was to create them. If buttons were not the right size or inconsistent between screens, I was to remedy it. The process gave me a great understanding of what the essentials are to build upon an existing UI.
Category icon design
I was tasked with creating a variety of icons based on the already existing brand icons. I kept the original style and developed a large set to send to the developers that were then placing them onto the app for the different menu categories. At that point we had many vendors with all types of cuisines so we had to cover a range for their individual requests. These are a few of my favourites :
